Academic Center for Tutoring

Welcome to the Academic Center for Tutoring (ACT) website!

ACT offers free tutoring services to help enrolled CSU students succeed in math, science, writing, and the humanities. You can read about our mission, methods, and policies on the Mission page. To make an Appointment, please login to CougarNet. To receive assistance with making an appointment, please visit Woodall 104 or call 706-568-2483.

The services of the ACT are for undergraduate students and, to a limited degree, graduate students. We are a pedagogical service, not an editing service.

Go to our Contact page for contact information and hours.  https://act.columbusstate.edu/hourslocation.php

ACT Tutoring in Schwob Library

The library and ACT have partnered to offer limited tutoring in basic math, science, writing, and humanities courses. Log in to EAB and find the tutors, days, and times that follow. Location: "User Services" suite of the Schwob Library, located to the far right of the Research Clinic Desk (to the right as you enter the library). If you need further assistance with locating the tutors, please ask a librarian for help.

Cancellation Policy

Cancelling appointments in a timely manner allows other clients to fill those appointments and, ideally, allows them to make arrangements to attend the appointment on time. Based on this idea, clients must cancel appointments 72 hours prior to their scheduled appointments. If it's less than 72 hours, clients will have to come in to Woodall 104 to cancel appointments. Appointments not cancelled in a timely manner will result in a "no-show" appointment.  After 2 no-shows, students must wait 30 days before they can again make appointments.

JOBS AVAILABLE @ the ACT

Do you like helping others? Would you like to enhance your resume with a professional position? Do you love the subjects of your major and talking with others about them? Do you want to earn some extra money? If you answered "yes" to each of these questions, then working and tutoring in the Academic Center for Tutoring (ACT) might be for you. Tutor applicants do not have to be majors in the subjects they want to tutor. Tutor applicants need only to know and love their subject and have a willingness to help others. If you want to explore the potential of becoming a tutor and ACT staff member, read our Employment page. https://act.columbusstate.edu/employment.php Stop by the Center to meet the staff at Woodall 104. We are always recruiting.
